Acme Announces New Store To Open In Green

grocery storeFor the first time in 20 years, we are proud to announce we will be opening up a new store! Our expansion into the growing suburb of Green Township is great news for our dedicated customers that have been longing for their own local store. Along with Albrecht, Inc., we have selected a site within the Heritage Crossings development at the corner of Graybill and Massillon Road for our new retail store. Our new home will be located at 3875 Massillon Road, just across the street of the Akron Area YMCA.

Our new store in Green will now accompany our other 15 Acme-operated stores in Northeast Ohio, along with our franchise store, Henry’s Acme in Akron. The exact open date for the new store is still to be determined. We hope to break ground by January 2013 and have the store open in time for the holiday season.

The new site will include a 68,800 square foot store with more than 28,200 additional square feet of commercial space for uses such as retail, office or restaurant space. This should create great opportunities for unique businesses and restaurants to provide a relaxing atmosphere for the community.

Our whole focus to this point has been updating and remodeling our core. Now that this is coming to an end, we are ready to open some new stores. Our initial opportunity at this point is Green and the goal is to create a world class Acme Fresh Market that fulfills Mayor Dick Norton’s vision for a vibrant and exciting downtown market

As far as the economic impact, the store will employ about 150 workers. Whether or not some current employees will transfer within the company is uncertain at this point, but there will be an increase of about 150 workers company-wide. This is great news for the local job outlook and those looking to be a part of the Acme Fresh Market family.

We are looking forward to opening our doors in such a beautiful town and better serving the community. To learn more about the new location in Green, click here to read the article in the Akron Beacon Journal.
